Yes! Remember, you must have a valid PAL license, and the barrel length must be greater than 26 inches.
PAL stands for possession and acquisition license issued by the Federal Government and is required to own or purchase a firearm or ammunition in Canada. This license replaced the old FAC. A one or two day course covering safe gun handling and the use of a variety of firearms is required to apply for a PAL license.
We suggest you look at Alberta Hunters Education Association web site for a qualified instructor. Go to www.aheia.com under Instructor Listings. Look for a Canadian Firearms Safety Course instructor in your area.
Yes, if he or she has a valid PAL.
Yes, if you have a valid PAL or you hire a guide to go with you. The guide will manage and sign out the gun under his/her PAL. If you come with a group and one person has a PAL, they will be able to rent a gun and then be the supervisor of the shotgun while on the course. A valid PAL license must be shown and recorded by staff when renting a shotgun prior to shooting.
Yes, as long as you have a valid PAL. We sell in individual shell boxes of 25, in Winchester, Federal, Remington, and Challenger as well as in case lots.
Yes, the shot size should not be larger then 7.5 and no more then 1 oz and 1/8th load. This is called a “target load” shell. These are not your duck and goose hunting type load, which is too heavy for shooting sporting clays.
You will need to have at least one person in each group of up to five people, who has a valid PAL to supervise and take responsibility of the group safety and the shotgun.
Yes, at an additional charge you can pre book and hire a guide. We need a minimum of three days notice to arrange for guides. If you book one of our shoot packages seen on our site, we provide the guide, shells, guns etc. You don’t need any licenses or to bring anything with you. However if you have your own shotgun you are welcome to bring it when your group shoots.
Yes, We recommend that a experienced shooter go with you the first time, someone with a valid PAL license or a hired guide/ instructor.
Depends on which shells you use. There are heavy target loads, light target loads and the new low recoil shells. The low recoil loads hardly kick at all (approximately 50% less recoil and less noise).
Yes, all the gun actions are to be open while on the course. The only time the gun is closed and loaded is when the shooter is in the safety-shooting stand. Eye and ear protection are mandatory. NO alcohol before or during shooting time is permitted to insure everyone’s safety. Range officers are on the course to insure safety standards and guests enjoyment. When group functions are booked and a guide / instructor is provided and stays with each shooter in the stand for ultimate gun safety, success and fun. Safety is number one, if safety standards are not met violators will be asked to leave the premises.
The instructor will teach you about gun safety, the best posture, swing stance, and the best way to hold the gun. Eye dominance and general gun fit are also covered. Shooting tips for success and suggestions to help improve your understanding and ultimately your scores!!
All activity on the Shot Shell grounds is at your own risk; you must be aware that live ammunition is being fired on the grounds. The liability waiver is a required process for each person who enters the property. Each person MUST sign. A minor must sign as well as their parent or legal guardian.
No, but if you shoot a lot you will save money in the long run.
Yes, cheaper clays as opposed to being a non-member, also you can bring up to 3 guests under your membership. As a trial, each person you bring can come with you a maximum of two times. After that point they will shoot as a non-member until they become a member.
Shot Shell is using a long range system. It can be programmed for solo shooting with delays and allow shooters to choose to shoot targets as singles or as true pairs.
There is ZERO tolerance for drinking and shooting. If a group books a shoot and BBQ function (minimum 15 people) and they bring a liquor license (which can be purchased at any liquor store) they can drink AFTER shooting with their catered meal. We do not sell alcohol.
